Idlefon

Calgary, Canada

Hesam Ohadi — Iranian-Canadian computer musician based in Calgary. Visceral ambient threaded with IDM, glitch and industrial edges.

Idlefon is the project of Hesam Ohadi (b. 1987, Tehran), an Iranian-Canadian computer musician and sound artist based in Calgary. Electronic music since 2006; first producer credit in 2010, for Arash Radkia’s short The Radiologist’s Room.

The work sits in visceral ambient, with IDM, glitch and industrial edges, shaped first by life in Tehran and later by Alberta. Records on Tympanik Audio and, since 2021, n5MD (COLDSTREAM). Ohadi co-founded BITROT and SET Experimental Art Events, and curates the ABEND series.

The current liveset, Aesthetics of Survival, moves from processed sampled speech toward lyricism and singing — shoegaze-inspired vocals with IDM and industrial music. Live includes Sled Island, MUTEK.AE and Antipode.
